This isn’t your regular film. It’s what I would call a cinematic meditation. Director Chantal Akerman starts us looking into a mirror on a wall of the titular hotel. We move to several lobby areas. Then it’s the rooms and views through the elevator doors. We look down hallways, move down them, and then back to where we started. Finally, we look out at New York City from some balconies and then the roof.

There are a few people here and there, but the hotel is the character and we spend a good hour with it getting to know it in it’s old age. It’s an interesting film and definitely worth a look.
