This is a classic political thriller that doesn’t pretend for a second that it isn’t based on real events. You know when films say any similarity to real persons or events is purely coincidental even if the film is supposed to be based on true events? This film starts off and puts that statement up, but replaces the words purely coincidental with intentional. The film is a thinly veiled story about the assassination Gregoris Lambrakis, a Greek politician and the subsequent events. The film starts with a wonderful sequence in which an assassination happens. That part is great. The next part is more like a special episode of Murder, She Wrote, but it works well enough. The Chinatown like ending is what pulls the film together. Revealing more than that would be to reveal the whole damn thing. Check it out.
