When most people think of Swedish cinema they think of Bergman, Bergman, and porn. However, before all that there was Victor Sjostrom and his crown of jewels was this film. I must say that the version I saw was butchered pretty bad, but enough of the film was remaining for me to come to a verdict.
The film among silent films of the early 1920’s is really nothing special except in it’s special effects. I don’t want to give away too much of the story, but it’s basically the story of a drunkard who is visited by the titular phantom carriage.
It’s worth a look.
